In the QS World University Rankings 2024, KFUPM is ranked 180th globally. Notably, all its Engineering disciplines are ranked amongst the top 60 worldwide. A standout example of this excellence is in Petroleum Engineering, where KFUPM proudly holds the fourth position globally and locally.

Recently, KFUPM has witnessed a significant strategic transformation involving a curriculum overhaul and the development of digital-based academic programs. Over 35 undergraduate concentration (CX) programs, including artificial intelligence, robotics, and nuclear engineering, have been introduced. Additionally, more than 32 new Professional Master (MX) programs, such as cybersecurity, biomedical engineering, and sustainable energy, have been established. Furthermore, KFUPM has set up over 20 interdisciplinary research centers, including the Hydrogen Center, Smart Security Systems Center, and Aviation and Space Exploration Center. The university has also taken significant steps to expand educational and research opportunities for female students and reinforce the role of women in society.
